SPH Plant had the chance to work in the Royal Academy of Arts alongside British Sculptor, Sir Antony Gormley. His work includes many well-known sculptures including the Angel of the North in Gateshead. We are pleased to have been able to work with him and help bring his new vision to life.

The job we were required to carry out was transporting 25,000 tons of seawater right into the Academy. We collected the seawater just 3 miles away in one of our impressive tankers. Once we arrived at the Academy, we carried our pipes through the halls and into the room where the water would sit. Once the water started running – there was no going back.

Sir Antony Gormley described his work as ‘bringing the outside in’ and with mud and water – how much closer to the earth can you get?
